Lawrence and Award-Winning Sci-Fi Author Kij Johnson

Lawrence author Kij Johnson has won nearly every major award in her genre (fantasy and sci-fi) including the Hugo, Nebula, Sturgeon and World Fantasy Awards. Johnson is the author of three novels and more than 50 short works of fiction. She has worked with Tor Books, Dark Horse Comics and Wizards of the Coast. Additionally, she has been teaching summer science fiction workshops at the University of Kansas since 2005. Now, she’s presenting a fantasy and sci-fi writing workshop right here in Topeka.

Join the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library as they host the acclaimed author on Sunday, February 3. The writing workshop will be held from 12:30 – 1:30p followed by a reading and author talk from 2 – 3:30p in TSCPL’s Marvin Auditorium.

The writing workshop will focus on the fundamentals of writing short science fiction and fantasy with examples and hands-on exercises. Writers will leave with activities to practice. Registration is required for the workshop. Go to tscpl.org/register

Johnson’s author talk is open to the public and also free of charge, no registration required. During her talk Johnson will share stories from her journey and read from her works. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and have books signed.
