It takes a village: Concert for a Child

Hear world-renown (and Topeka native) fingerstyle guitarist Andy McKee live in concert Friday, August 26 at Topeka Performing Arts Center. “Concert for a Child” is a benefit for Capper Foundation and this August marks the second year for the event. Building on last year, McKee will be joined with two other phenomenal musicians and funds will benefit Topeka Performing Arts Center, in addition to Capper Foundation.

THE HEART: A CONCERT FOR A CAUSE

You know we love to “Party for a Cause” here at seveneightfive magazine; but a Concert for a Cause…it must be our birthday! “Concert for a Child” raises much needed funds to support Capper Foundation and Topeka Performing Arts Center.

Your participation helps children build abilities and achievement in the arts!

CAPPER FOUNDATION PEDIATRIC THERAPY SERVICES

Capper Foundation has been serving individuals with disabilities and their families since 1920. At the heart of this year’s concert, raising funds to assist children who are uninsured or under-insured receive pediatric therapy services from Capper Foundation. Don’t believe this is a large population; think again: 75% of the families who received services from Capper utilize the scholarship assistance fund which helps cover the cost of services.

TOPEKA PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

For Topeka Performing Arts Center, the heart of this event is raising funds to support art education programs for all youth in our community. Proceeds will benefit the Sheffel Theater Clinic and Schooltime Theater Series as well as Masterclasses, and Gingerbread Homes For the Holidays. After nearly a decade without releasing new studio recordings, McKee returns with his six-track EP, Symbol, out Friday, September 17 on Mythmaker Records in conjunction with Cruzen Street Records.

CALUM GRAHAM

Born in Fort St. John, British Columbia and currently residing in Victoria, Calum Graham has been building a name for himself across the globe for the last 12 years with his passionate solo acoustic guitar prowess and was named one of the World’s Top 30 Guitarists under 30 by Acoustic Guitar Magazine.

TREVOR GORDON HALL

Through his work, Trevor Gordon Hall has established himself as a unique and pioneering voice on the international stage, albeit one who speaks through his guitar and every sound that it’s capable of, rather than words. On top of a touring calendar that’s taken him through 17 countries and counting, his discography has amassed millions of listens and views through streaming services such as Spotify and YouTube, allowing his music to connect meaningfully with listeners across all borders, regardless of their language or location.
