GREEK FOOD FEST

Σπίτι μου σπιτάκι μου και σπιτοκαλυβάκι μου.
(=My home, my little home, a little house of my own.)
Meaning: Greek equivalent of “Home, sweet home”.

The 15th Annual Greek Food Festival is Saturday, October 12 and our stomachs are glad to be home.
Stop by the annual fundraiser at Saints Peter + Paul Orthodox Christian Church (Huntoon and Medford Ave.) for some delicious Greek cuisine and great community.

VEGETARIAN OPTION

Falafel, made with ground chickpeas blended with Mediterranean spices and fried. Dunk in homemade tzatziki sauce.

KEFTHEDES

traditional Greek meatballs made with a mixture of ground lamb and beef, seasoned with cinnamon, mint, cloves, onions and garlic. “Accompanied with a unique and aromatic sauce!
They are a MUST try! You can even get them in bulk, downstairs in the church basement, during the festival.”

Dolmades

DOLMADES

are tender grape leaves, rolled and stuffed with beef, rice and a unique blend of seasonings, simmered in homemade chicken and lemon broth. You can order these in bulk to go in the church basement or ahead of time (thinking 2020 already).

HUMMUS AND PITA

is a Mediterranean staple and accompanies each meal served at the festival. “We make ours in small batches to ensure each bite is perfection.”

THE TAVERNA

located in the church basement is the place for hot Greek coffee and desserts, like Baklava, which always sell out, so get there early.
